It was during the summer of 1996, after the split-up of of their former group "Scherzo Wertigo" that the idea of getting together a new formation came to Gil le Berrigo and Mik Chevalier as a kind of necessity. With Mik's texts and musical compositions, given a new colour be Gil's way of singing , added to their common taste in music, the formation as a duo seemed inevitable. The fact of working without a drummer (using Mik's programming skills instead) resulted in a faster and more efficient method of working , at the same time more flexible both in terms of composition and interaction.
After their first studio–recorded demo "Introduction to", the band's repertoire grew quickly to fuel their first concerts in the summer of 1997. A second demo , "Samhain", in 1999 was followed by their first studio album entitled "Self Exorcism" , released in October 2001.
October 27th was not looking to be included in some kind of "cold wave" revival, for the sombre romanticism of their texts and of their music sits outside time and movements , their repertoire contained no covers of previous exponents of the style. Each concert was considered by the group as an audio-visual whole , even in the smallest of clubs. The light show was of great importance in the eyes of the group creating, with the sound , an atmosphere which was at once shadowy, cold, mistyand heavy with symbolism. The musicians' stage presence was also supremely important: Mik 's sensual sway (his use of the bow on the electric bass was a particularly striking example); Gil towers and glowers
on stage like some mysterious monolith, almost imperial in his stance.
So , above all things , October 27th was a group destined to be seen and heard LIVE, however big or small the venue, the only way to experience their strange atmosphere, and strangely the only way to meet a pair of really nice guys.
All of this dedicated to Gil.
